A fire that destroyed a home in the Cloverdale area east of Sisters late Sunday night, but a family of four escaped in their pajamas into the snow and sub-freezing temperatures, Deschutes County sheriff's deputies said. During our recruitment campaign, The State of Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training has revised the requirements for Apparatus Drivers. Originally, Drivers needed to be certified as Firefighter - I, which is a structural firefighter. The revised requirement no longer requires this. So we can train in basic exterior firefighting, for knowledge, and allow volunteer drivers to operate our apparatus.
