OUT DOOR BURNING OPEN 10/18/2008 OPENING AT DAYLIGHT / BURNING PERMIT REQUIRED / CALL FOR BURNING STATUS *Please read this page completely* Burning Regulations (printer friendly) Burning Permits are required within the Cloverdale Rural Fire Protection District Please pick up a burning permit form and make sure it is signed and logged with CRFPD before you burn. Outdoor burning is allowed during daylight hours only, with a valid burn permit. NO BURNING IS ALLOWED DURING HIGH WINDS. CALL (541)548-4815 TO CHECK ON DAILY BURNING STATUS PRIOR TO BURNING. Burning permits are issued for a lifetime with a clear understanding of permit and burning requirements. Permits are available at: Cloverdale Fire Station 601 Cloverdale Fire Station 602 68787 George Cyrus Rd 67433 Hwy 20 and Cloverdale Road.
NO FEES FOR BURN PERMITS.
Burn
permits shall be required for any open burning of commercial waste, demolition
material, domestic waste, industrial waste, land clearing debris or field
burning (including burn barrels).
Burning Requirements 1. Prior to burning, call 541-548-4815 for current burning restrictions. (For example open, closed, burning until noon, etc.) 2. Burning shall be restricted to cleared areas 40 feet away from any building and 20 feet away from trees. 3. Clear burnable material 10 feet from around the base of the burn pile, burn pit or burn barrel 4. Burn early in the morning while temperatures are low and humidity is high, whenever possible. 5. Do not burn in high winds. 6. Fires shall be attended until all free burning material has been extinguished. 7. One shovel and water (5 gallons or charged hose line) must be available at burn site. 8. Burning is allowed during daylight hours only, however, fire pits, stumps, and burn barrels may be allowed to smolder after dark (no new material may be added until daylight.) 9. The fire chief or his designee may, at their discretion, open or close burning and otherwise alter the burning requirements as deemed necessary. commercial, agricultural, and industrial burn permits:
Such burning is prohibited unless, in addition to any to any permit issued by
the Cloverdale Rural Fire Protection District, a permit is obtained from the
appropriate forest protection agency.
Enforcement: ,In accordance with provisions of
ors478.990(2)and (3) violations of ors 478.960(1) and (4) are misdemeanor
violations which carry their own citation schedule. Deschutes County ordinance
applicable.
NOTE: If the fire burns out of control do not hesitate
to request assistance. CALL 911.This permit does not relieve the permitee from
responsibility for fire damage, is subject to cancellation without notice, and
is valid only at location of permitted burning indicated above. Permitee shall
determine each day before burning whether such burning is permitted. Burning

To protect air quality, DEQ has the the authority, under state law, to prohibit open burning anywhere in the state on a day-to-day basis. State air quality rules which govern open burning are found in Oregon Administrative Rules, Chapter 340, Division23. It is against the law to conduct any open burning that:

(includes burning tires to start an approved agricultural waste fire)
In or near cities of greater than 4,000 in population the DEQ prohibits open burning of waste from commercial establishments, construction and demolition activity, and land clearing.
